Our
Mission

Our mission is to provide support to families who experience the loss of a child and to be a partner to local Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU).

Our
Story

In June 2023, a few months after Adam and Jessie were married, they learned they were expecting a little girl. On December 4, 2023, at 26 weeks and 4 days pregnant, Jessie woke up in labor. A few hours later, their beautiful little girl, Peyton, was born and admitted to the NICU at Grandview Hospital. Peyton was considered a micro preemie, weighing only 2 pounds and 2 ounces.

On January 1, 2024, the Smith family's lives would be forever changed. Peyton went to be with the Lord after a strong and brave 28-day stay in the NICU.

Leaving the hospital with empty arms is something no family should have to do. The next few days were full of unexplainable grief and decisions. The Smith family received a tremendous amount of support from their community, family, and friends. This is what the heart of the Peyton Smith Memorial Foundation was founded on. To step into the gap for bereaved families.

Our bereavement box provides free counseling resources, financial support information, a grief journal, connections to communities, memory items, and more. These boxes are provided for free to families at any of our partnering hospitals or via an online submission on one of our platforms.

Despite her short life, Peyton's legacy lives on through her family and foundation. Her parents have chosen to honor her memory by sharing their story, offering support to families experiencing the loss of a child, and partnering with local NICUs to bring hope to families.
